Munro through to Semi-Finals

Green Island, Hanover- A well executed volley by Captain Derron Duncan from a corner earned defending champions Munro a 1-0 win over Green Island and a place in the Galloway Cup semi-final. Munro will advance in second place behind zone winners York Castle who spanked Manchester High 3-1.

Munro could have won by a wider margin but finishing proved difficult on a very bumpy surface in quite windy conditions. Munro will be stronger for the semi-final with the return of influential midfielder Mark "Ram" Parchment and the speedily diminutive forward Matthew "E.T" Kerr Clarke.

Munro's semi-final opponent will be known today when Cornwall College and STETHS settle the dispute over the best team in Group 1. This will be an intriguing match up with both teams being unbeaten in this round. STETHS are coming off a 3-0 thumping of Godfrey Stewart, while Cornwall enter this game with a 1-0 win over Decartereth College. Cornwall is the only team in this years Galloway Cup with a 100% winning record.

In U14 action Munro lost 2-1 to Green Island, ending any hope of advancing to the semi-final stage. The youngsters from Malvern felt hard done by the officials when a goal they scored resulting from a cross on the by line was deemed offside. Ricardo Pinnock scored Munro's lone goal.
