The Munro College DaCosta Cup team opened there 2008 campaign with a practice match against their nemesis Cornwall College on May 31,2008. The game which ended 0-0 was keenly contested in both halves with Cornwall having the better of play in the first half and Munro dominating in the second half.

The first chance of the game went to Cornwall College, when their prolific center forward Radcliff Hall picked up a ball on the left, and fired a torrid shot which was well saved by the Munro custodian Errol Reid. Cornwall tried desperately through their Captain and national U20 player Edward Campbell to breach the stubborn Munro defence, but he was expertly contain by the Munro #11 Deighton Stuart.

Later in the first half Munro settled and came into their own with the ever dangerous Allen Bell who overlapped well on the right.

At the start of the second half the momentum continued in Munro's favour. Less than 10 minutes into the second half Munro were awarded a free kick on the edge of the Cornwall box. Jordan Bell's header from the free kick was well saved by Cornwall goalie David Watson.
Munro bolstered their attack with the addition of ace striker Jermaine Samms who had little trouble dealing with the teak tough Cornwall defense. Munro looked to have the winner 2 minutes from time when Samms picked up a pass just outside the box, turned and fired past the hapless David Watson only to see the ball bounce of the apparatus.
