Munro take Aim at Semi-finals (WFAU17)

Xavier Hendricks (#10) attempts to Score with Header on Goal!

Llandilo, Savannalamar- Munro College need only a point in their WFA U17 encounter with Negril FC to advance to the May 9,2009 Semi-Finals.

In their most recent outing, Munro put in a workman like performance to secure a 0-0 draw against Frome FC in "The battle of Zone Winners".

Munro failed to find the net on two occasions. The first coming when 2007 Under 14 point man Amin Miller blasted a well timed volley on goal, forcing the Frome FC custodian to make a spectacular save. The second came when Miller's strike partner Demari Stevens, headed the ball from the far post to midfield magician Xavier Hendricks who headed directly at the Frome FC goalkeeper.

Frome FC had their moments as well. Munro's 6ft4" 16 year old Dacosta Cup reserve goalkeeper Lloyd Tyme, was flawless in executing the save of a Frome FC free-kick that found its way around the Munro College wall.

The result of this game extended the unbeaten record of both Munro College and Frome FC. Only one other team is unbeaten in the competition at this juncture; that other distinction belongs to Reno FC.

Munro will next play Negril FC on May 2,2009 at 11am at Llandilo.

Munro race to Lead with Wins (WFA U17)

From Left to Right: Carl Simpson, Demari Stephens, Akeen Royal, and Akeem Brown

Llandilo, Savannalamar- Munro College with an emphatic 5-0 and a knock down drag out 1-0 win over STRATHS FC and Roaring River FC respectively torpedoed to the top of Zone B with 15 points.

The boys from "the City set upon the Hill" had to play 2 games in a single day to make-up for time lost due to mock exams.

STRATHS FC were up first, and took a shellacking from an ominous Munro team. A brace from midfield magician Carl Simpson, and one a piece from striker Demari Stephens, Akeen Royal, and Akeem Brown produced the 5-0 outcome.

In the second game which occurred about 15 minutes later Munro were made to work hard for their win against a stubborn Roaring River FC. Tempers flared through out this eventful encounter, as the official failed to make calls in favour of Munro which would earn them penalties for infractions committed inside the Roaring River goal area. Munro peppered the Roaring River defence with attacking moves through Karl Simpson, Shaunovan Dezousa, Demari Stephens, Akeem Brown, Akeen Royal, Xavier Hendricks and Errol Davis.

Davis came close to scoring when his shot from inside the area beat the goalkeeper and ricocheted of the cross bar. Munro clinched the elusive winner when Royal collected a pass just inside the box and slotted past the Roaring River custodian.
Munro are now one game away from the semi-finals, "great work guys".
