Malvern, St. Elizabeth- Former champions Munro College inched closer to the interzone round of the Dacosta Cup with a 2-0 blanking of Balaclava High.
Midfielder Ackeen "Duttyman" Royal netted early in the first half with a header from captain Oneil "Laza" Legister free kick.
Munro dominated Balaclava for the entire first half, and could have gone 2-0 up when Rasheem Eccleston picked out the advancing Errol "Sally" Davis with a diagonal ball. Davis fire powerfully at goal, but his shot was well saved.
With time elapsing and Munro smelling blood, Balaclava tried desperately to avoid defeat, but were kept out by astute defending. Munro would put the game beyond Balaclava's reach in injury time, when the wily striker Chris "Chriwi" Wint, collected a ball at the top of the box beating the Balaclava defense and fired powerfully into the far corner of the net.
Munro will next play bottom placed Newell High away on Wednesday. Munro needs to win this game to advance to the next round.
