Munro clip Lacovia 1-0
Carl Simpson scores with a penalty to put Munro up 1-0
Malvern, St.Elizabeth- Many time champions Munro College took sole control of Zone E with a workman like 1-0 win over Lacovia.
Midfielder Carl Simpson was clipped down in the box; returning moments late to score the penalty.
Munro continued to miss opportunities that would have widened the score, and nearly paid for their lack of finishing when the referee awarded Lacovia a dubious penalty in the second half.
Munro goalie Lloyd Tyme would have none of this nonsense and dived to his right to pull of a brilliant save. He subsequently was kicked in the head by the onrushing Lacovia player.
From this point on Lacovia with the help of blind eyed officials reverted to making the match a foul filled affair, injuring a number of Munro players in the process.
In other game STETHS moved into second place with a 9-0 drubbing of Newell High with striker Deshawn Brown get a double hatrick. Balaclava High kept pace with STETHS when they recorded a 1-0 win over Black River.
The third set of matches in Zone E will be interesting with Munro taking on Balaclava at Braes River, and STETHS taking on Lacovia at STETHS. Both games are paramount and will begin at 3:30pm.
