Munro, Balaclava Draw 1-1

Braes River, St. Elizabeth- Munro College suffered a minor scare when they had to come from behind to draw 1-1 with the upset minded Balaclava High.

Balaclava had previously drew with STETHS 0-0 in Santa Cruz a week earlier, came out determined to over throw Munro.

Munro, got the easiest chance of the game first when Rajiv Service received a perfect pass inside the goal area, but failed to finish.

Balaclava won a free kick which sailed over the Munro goal area unchallenged until it was headed home by an alert Balaclava attacker.

Munro nearly equalized before the break when Chavez Anglin got away down the left to crack a cross in, which missed the head of the onrushing Errol Davis.

Munro came alive in the second half, and would not have to wait long, clinching the equalizer from a torrid shot struck by Kenry "Shorty" Rowe. From this point on Balaclava came under severe pressure, with Munro hitting the goal post three times.

In other games STETHS blanked Lacovia 3-0 to join Munro on seven points, while Black River got the better of Newell 4-0 to get their first win.

Munro plays STETHS next on Saturday September 26, 2009 at Munro in a big Zone E clash.
