Black River, St. Elizabeth- Munro College were shocked by Black River when they were beaten 2-0 in their critical Zone F clash.
Black River opened the scoring early in the first half when their striker got behind the Munro defense, forcing Munro keeper Tevin Tomlinson off his line. Tomlinson brought down the Black River centre forward, and a penalty was awarded. Black River Captain Keno Mullings stepped up to convert the penalty kick.
Munro fought hard to find the equaliser, and could have got it when striker Amin"Chiller" Miller shot just wide of the far post. The first half however belong to Black River.
Munro dominated the second half, pinning Black Ricer in their own half. Amin Miller collected a pass from the right, speeding past the Black River defense, but his shot barely went over the cross bar. The diminutive Neon Brown had the Black River goalkeeper at his mercy, but shot wide of the post. Munro best chance of the game came when Kevon Howard swung the ball diagonally from the right unto the chest of Amin Miller inside the box, but Miller fumbled with the goalkeeper at his mercy.
Black River sealed the game when they won a free kick at the edge of the box. The ball was stealthily rolled unto the feet of Luciel Banton who fired past Tevin Tomlinson in goal.
Ben Francis Champions STETHS moved to six points in the group when they hammered Balaclava 5-0 at Appleton Estate. National U20 striker Kevon Farquharson scored twice for STETHS to take his season tally to five goals. Decartereth College moved to four points in the group when they beat Newell 4-2.
Munro will look to rebound when they face bottom placed Lacovia on Saturday at home.
